I work in a corner of a garage in Connecticut. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Not exactly the place polished press releases come from.

I even looked up how you're supposed to write one. Apparently, I'm supposed to be excited to announce something. I'm supposed to use words like innovative and revolutionary, and somewhere near the end there should probably be a quote from me talking about the company's vision.

Vision? I make something that cleans your ass crack. I make one tiny product. It's about an inch tall and weighs a smidge over four grams. It's a backpacking bidet. People like it.

Over the last few years more than 25,000 Holey Hiker Bidets have ended up on trails around the world, and every one of them got there because another hiker or traveler said, "You should try this." We don't have a marketing department figuring out how to convince people they need one. We just make a little bottle top bidet that works.

Maybe that's a terrible business strategy. Or maybe people trust products that earn their reputation instead of buying it.

Good things are simple things.

If you're walking the show floor looking for a polished brand that has all the answers, you can probably skip our booth. If you're curious how a company that started in a closet, moved to the basement, graduated to a corner of the garage, and somehow ended up with a tiny space at Outdoor Retailer, stop by and say hello. Holey Hiker Bidets is just me, Paul, slightly obsessed with making one thing ridiculously well. Even if you don't want a bidet, it's still a pretty good story.
